According to the nature of Hindi and the culture of Haryana the traditional Ghazal have been developed by Shri Vimal Krishna Ashk, B.D. Kalia 'Hamdam', Prof. RP Shokh Mahendra Pratap Chand and Kundan Gudgavi.

Vijay Kumar Sinhal's Ghazal Collection Dhoop Hamare Hisse Ki is considered as the first Ghazal collection of Haryana, which w published in 1982 in collaboration with Haryana Sahirya Academy.

Kanwal Haryanvi, popularly known as Haryanvi Ghazalkaar, was born on 9 May, 1927 in Pai village of Kaithal district. He is considered the modern master of Haryanvi folk literature.
